As our community begins to acclimate to a post-pandemic normal there is a continued effort to address the issues that have impacted our citizens. Therefore, the Durham County Women’s Commission is focusing on the following buckets of advocacy in FY 2022:
Community Health: Continuing the work of the Post-Pandemic Committee as well as the Black Maternal Health Subcommittee this goal focuses on public health, health literacy and awareness.
Financial Literacy: Continuing the work of the Social Justice Committee, in partnership with organizations in RTP, to drive diverse hiring practices in Durham County.
Volunteering: Raising awareness and creating opportunities for DCWC members to partner and organize volunteer efforts to make a tangible impact within our community.
With the COVID-19 virus still creating massive challenges in our community and the continued need for forwarding issues of social justice, the Durham County Women’s Commission is focusing on the following buckets of advocacy in FY 2021:
Reproductive Health Access: Continuing the work of the Black Maternal Health survey findings as well as the Black Maternal Health Subcommittee.
Financial Health & Wealth: Continuing the work of the Social Justice Committee, in partnership with organizations in RTP, to drive diverse hiring practices in Durham County.
COVID-19 Outreach and Advocacy: Raising awareness and creating opportunities to address issues that have been exacerbated by the pandemic such as housing instability and homelessness and the school-at-home impact on mothers; losing wages/hours/jobs do to address the needs of children at home.
